Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Saifullah Khalid, a top terrorist associated with Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has been killed by unknown assailants in Matli, Badin in Pakistan’s Sindh province, according to intelligence inputs. Saifullah, long on India’s most wanted list, had been actively involved in multiple terror attacks on Indian soil.
Before hiding in Pakistan, Saifullah was believed to be operating from Nepal under aliases like Vinod Kumar. From his Nepal base, he had allegedly orchestrated and facilitated several attacks targeting Indian security and civil institutions. After Indian intelligence began closing in on him, he escaped to Pakistan.
Among the most heinous attacks linked to Saifullah was the 2006 failed plot to attack the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Disguised as policemen and armed with AK-56 rifles, grenades, and RDX, the attackers were neutralized by Indian police before they could execute their plan.
Saifullah was also linked to the 2001 CRPF camp attack in Rampur, and the 2005 Bangalore shooting at the Indian Institute of Science, where terrorists opened fire on civilians exiting an international conference. One professor was killed and several others injured in that attack.
Highly trained and resourceful, Saifullah played a critical role in Lashkar-e-Taiba’s terror operations, planning infiltration routes, identifying targets, and facilitating logistics. He remained a top priority for Indian intelligence and counter-terrorism agencies for over a decade.
